We will encourage the children to use their bodies, voices, words, and imaginations to create characters and stories, and to build co-operation and group awareness. The activities will be fun, supportive, co-operative and imaginative, while building skills in listening, story-building, observation, timing, coordination, concentration, and expressiveness of movement and voice.
There will be a brief performance for parents at the last class meeting.
The class is designed to support and encourage the kids' own creative impulses, to promote confidence in active participation in groups, to develop skill in expressive verbal and non-verbal communication, and to begin to build an ability to work creatively and collaboratively in a group situation.
And most of all, it should be a lot of fun!
Spring 2015 Drama Class Schedule
AGES 4 - 8
Tuesdays, April 14 - June 23 (no class May 19)
3:30 - 4:15 p.m.
Tuition (10 45-minute classes) . . . $ 260
(includes $10 non-refundable registration fee)
($ 50 discount for siblings, or for enrollment of child or sibling in Music Together in the same semester)
Class is limited to 12 children.
Class will be held at 275 - 90th Street (Music Together Studio)
This class is a drop-off class.
(Makeups may not be available for this class. If you know in advance you cannot attend all 10 classes, please talk to Michael, and we will try to accomodate your schedule.)
About the Instructor:
Donetta Riley is an experienced actor, singer and improviser. She is the drama director at Pelham Arts Center in Pelham, New York where she runs regular acting camps. In addition, she was the music and drama instructor at the Cobble Hill Circus Camp, and is the creator of "Destination Imagination," a drama program she has run in Manhattan. Donetta has an M.F.A. in Theatre Arts, and is well known to many of our families as a beloved Music Together teacher.
